“An unexpected guest barges in,
takes what you love and moves like the wind,
An unacceptable truth,
A reality you did not choose,
Seems like a nightmare that would not cease.
Time has come to heal what time itself presents.
For all that has a beginning, surely has an end.”
I never know how to console a grieving friend.
No, it’s not because I’m insensitive to the pain it comes with, I’m just not sure if my words would douse the pain they felt at the time.
When you lose someone dear to you, it bores a hole in your…
I’m only human
so cut me a slack
Give me a break
Understand my excesses
Look away from my flaws
For I’m only human
What do you expect?
I’m only human…
They say it is ingrained in man to be vicious, vile, and selfish. To always do what pleases him no matter what, for he must feed his desires at all cost.
“I’m only human” has grown to be the perfect excuse whenever he does something wrong.
I guess it’s okay to believe that this is the reason behind everything that goes wrong in our world today. Yet, I wonder…
I love the concept of time; the repetition seems to be driven by hands on a clock, yet experience and life will show that it’s a lot deeper than that.
Time grows its roots in our memories. Slowly counting down yet never slowing down. Some days are longer than others but suddenly become a wrap when we look back from the present.
An instance is how something that happened years ago would feel like it happened hours or minutes ago, or how the constant anticipation of the desired tomorrow turns out to be the present moment before you know it…
We perceive nature as a vast phenomenon, every element makes an amazing whole, even the smallest molecules contribute to creating spectacular effects.
With the universe at its peak, we see how all that makes up our world has something we can get inspired by as we go about our daily lives.
The Sun, the moon, the Stars, the Oceans, the Wind, our Earth… You name it. Nature graces us with diverse attributes that we cannot help but acknowledge.
This is why I decided to put together a short compilation of poems revealing the lessons I have personally observed from nature.
You’ve probably been there too; a lot of us have been exposed to situations where people did not expect much from us because of how we looked at the point. We’ve also encountered situations where people overestimated our capacity because of how we looked.
The former often meets us with a sting of disappointment and maybe anger towards the parties involved. The latter would either boost our confidence or anxiety depending on the situation or the expectations that come with it.
However, this coin can be flipped without denial, we have also encountered situations where we…
Change - it is constant they say, and time has revealed this truth. If there’s one thing that further proves the common saying that tomorrow isn’t promised — this is it. We have seen, with the recent turn of events that it only takes a short while before life generally goes on an unexpected path and tomorrow could be all it takes for the world to change.
New normal is not a new term in the world’s vocabulary, back in 2008, it referred to the changes in financial conditions due to the global financial crisis which was faced at the…
Fictitious moments whence my mind drifts, this is a reality check…
On a new day, I set forth for the mundane routine. Head towards the sun, heavy smile on my cheeks, “it’s gonna be a great day.
I try to be as positive as can be, effortlessly strutting as I wave at my neighbors.
“Hello, Goodbye”, it’s gonna be a great day.
Half time still smiling. Sure my night was awesome! I’m always thrilled for the adventure a new day brings.
The sun is friendly today. Oh, and everyone is nice. On the news, it’s nothing but glad tidings.
The #endsars protest is more than just a protest for the disbandment of a unit. It is a call for the world’s attention to a faulty system forced down upon people who deserve better— where those who swore to protect are the same who wreak havoc.
It is the cry of mothers who lost their young to the cruelty of those assigned to ensure their safety. The wailing of siblings who have lost a brother or sister to the evil of a supposed justice system; It is the mourning of friends who have lost people they care about because the…
Faji is a tout who stands by the roadside hassling bus drivers and conductors for money and change. He’s crude, untamed, and hated. The sane person would avoid confrontation with him.
Faji fights at the slightest provocation but sometimes he’s quiet. Behind his fiasco and show of power, I often wonder what goes on through his mind.
Faji is society’s outcast. He’s got a family a wife and two kids who he sends to the public school just around the corner. For a thug, his wife seems polished and speaks fluently you could hardly believe she was married to a…
Inspiration: Winning Within
One major reason why we don’t often achieve what we’ve conceived is because of the limitations we’ve placed on ourselves, focusing more on the reason it wouldn’t work than reasons why it should.
If you’ll achieve anything in reality you must first remove these limitations. Imagine that everything was possible and there was nothing to hold you back, see yourself at the peak, and believe that it’s possible. To win in society, we have to win in our minds. Conquer the fears and the second-guessing.
Sure, it’s true you should weigh your options and the risk…
